Java. This island in the Indo-Pacific region was one of the original lands to which this iconic-titled coffee was introduced by Dutch traders, who brought coffee to the region in the 18th century from the Red Sea countries of Yemen and Ethiopia.
When our Coffee Master began his career in the late 1980’s, Java Estate coffees were always associated with the distinct flavor characteristic of rubber, as many of the coffee estates were situated among rubber tree plantations. The late and great Pete McLaughlin, of Royal Coffee founding fame, would always describe an excellent Java as “Keds,” which for those of us that were around in the seventies and opened a box of these popular tennis shoes knows, they brimmed with fresh, sweet rubber fragrance.
This estate coffee is an anaerobic natural processed bean, which is how the coffee develops the deep floral and fruit sweetness in the cup. It is definitely unlike any other Java we have enjoyed in the past. Try it today! You will not be disappointed.
