Our Story
Our founder Christian was invited by Hacienda La Minita to join their honored ranks as a select partner roaster in 1995. Alpen Sierra’s full-city roast offering of this exquisite coffee has earned top ratings from Kenneth Davids at the Coffee Review, 1998 and 1999 with inclusion in Coffees of the Millenium. Hacienda La Minita oversees and controls every aspect of the production of this coffee from the nursery to the mill. The ladies, for their superior attention, eyesight and dexterity, peform the final hand sorting of each bean to ensure uniform size, screen 16, to provide outstanding clarity of roast and character in the cup. The coffee workers, their families and the villages surrounding Hacienda La Minita are well-cared for, receiving a living wage, school, health clinic care and a strong sense community.
