Though its exact origins remain a mystery, Sidra is believed to have emerged from a plant breeding program and was first cultivated on farms in Ecuador, then Colombia. It gained global recognition after being featured in the World Coffee Championships in 2019 and 2022—an introduction that marked its arrival as one of the most exciting cultivars in specialty coffee today.
