Our Story
Alpen Sierra began sourcing organic coffees in 1997. Through working with the pioneers of sustainable coffee, notably Garth and Gaylene Smith of Organic Products Trading company, this particular origin was one of the first available on a global and consistent quality basis. Our founder and Master Roaster, Christian Waskiewicz, had the distinct pleasure of visiting Peru in 2017. In the Northern Andes mountains he met with the small-lot growers and communities producing this fine coffee. It was during this visit that he was introduced to the women of the Cafe Femenino program. Being a father of three daughters, Christian identifies with empowering women and recognized the significance of their endeavors.
At Alpen Sierra we support the Cafe Femenino program. We give back 5% of our purchases directly to the Cafe Femenino Foundation, which results in the improvement of the lives of families and villages, who are proudly producing these fine coffees.
